Chennai takes its place as Nexteer's third manufacturing plant in India - joining plants in Bengaluru and Pune - and as the 26th plant within the company's global manufacturing footprint.
The company anticipates that the new plant will provide 150 job opportunities in Chennai by the end of 2019.
"The Chennai plant is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nexteer Automotive, covering an area of 8,336 square meters," said Madhav Kulkarni, Managing Director, Nexteer India. "This strategic manufacturing footprint expansion will bring Nexteer's high quality and safety-critical Electric Power Steering (EPS) and Driveline products to India, as well as fast, responsive service to better serve our customers."
