(QUZHOU, China, Dec. 4, 2019 PRNewswire=연합뉴스) On December 2, 2019, the launching ceremony of the 8th China (Kaihua) Root Carving Art and Culture Festival and the 3rd "Belt and Road" International Root Carving Cultural Exchange Week were held in Kaihua, Zhejiang Province, China. Sponsored by Chinese Arts and Crafts Institute, International Wood Culture Society, and the People's Government of Kaihua County, the festival adheres to the spirit of "peaceful cooperation, openness and tolerance, mutual learning, mutual benefit and win-win", being committed to building a global platform for an international exchange of root carving culture.
Kaihua root carving enjoys the reputation of "the best root carving in China". In particular, the event venue, the Root Palace Buddhist Cultural Tourism Zone, is not only the world's only large-scale root cultural theme park, but also a successful example of combining traditional crafts with cultural tourism. In recent years, relying on the art of root carving, Kaihua has combined the "go global" strategy and the "bring in" strategy and achieved good results.
During the entire exchange week, Chinese and foreign root art masters gathered together to discuss the inheritance and development of root art culture and traditional Chinese culture, jointly promoting this professional cultural activity of the highest international standards, an art feast focusing on the Silk Road, international elements, cultural tourism integration. Miriam BAJKAI, a female artist from Slovakia was also in Kaihua for the first time. She said that she had carved works on many materials but was impressed by the beauty of root carvings in China.
