A man from the welfare department was interviewing a lady who had requested assistance and he was reviewing her form. He noted that she stated that she had three sons, but only one name listed, “George.” “Yes, all three sons are named George.” “Why would you do that?” inquired the government worker. “It makes it easier to get things done,” was her reply. “‘George, time for bath’ and they all would get in the bath. ‘George, time for supper’ and they all come to the table.” Amazed the government worker inquired how she would do it when she wanted to talk with just one of her sons. “Oh that’s easy. I just call them by their last name.”복지담당 부서 직원이 복지 신청을 한 여자를 면접하면서 여자가 제출한 신청서를 살폈다. 아들 셋이 있는데 모두 ‘조지’라는 이름으로 기재돼 있었다. “맞습니다. 셋 모두 조지라고요.” “어째서 그렇게 한 이름으로 부릅니까?” 담당자가 물었다. “그게 편리하거든요. ‘조지야, 목욕할 시간이다’라고 하면 모두가 욕실로 온답니다. 또 ‘조지야, 밥먹어라’ 하면 모두가 식탁으로 오죠.” 그 말에 놀란 관리자는 어느 한 아이하고만 이야기하고 싶으면 어떡하냐고 물었다. “문제 없어요. 성을 부르면 됩니다.”
