블록체인 기술전문기업 미디움은 지난 8월초 ‘MDL Test Lab’을 공개했으며, 두 달간 진행된 이 성능 테스트에는 글로벌 블록체인 시스템 통합, IT컨설팅 및 보안전문 업체들이 참여했다고 밝혔다.
미디움이 자체적으로 개발하여 공개한 MDL Test Lab은 AWS(Amazon Web Service) 클라우드 서버상에서 제공되며 누구나 테스트 랩 서버에 콘솔로 접속하여 MDL의 처리성능을 직접 확인 및 검증가능하도록 설계되었다. 측정도구로는 하이퍼레저 캘리퍼(Hyperledger Caliper)가, 네트워크는 3 Peer, 3 Orderer, Raft, 1CA, 1채널, 1조직으로 구성, 성능측정에 사용한 체인코드는 캘리퍼에서 지원하는 Smallbank, Simple 등이 사용되었다.

미디움 관계자는 “참여한 업체들이 시스템 콘솔 상에서 직접 15,000TPS, 1.6/sec Latency의 성능을 직접 경험했고, 이로 인해 자사 보유중인 Hyperledger Fabric 기반 제품의 성능 고도화를 위한 MDL 도입을 심도있게 검토 중이다”라고 설명했다.
미디움 측에 따르면 테스트랩에 참여한 업체들의 면면이 예사롭지 않았는데, 먼저 세계 IT 소싱업무의 55%를 차지하는 인도의 3대 IT 서비스 업체인 위프로, 타타컨설팅, 인포시스가 모두 MDL Test Lab에 참여했다. 또 중국의 블록체인기반 DB 관리 시스템 전문기업인 피어세이프(Peersafe)와 미국소재의 시스템 통합 및 컨설팅 기업인 코그니전트(Cognizant)가 함께 참여했다. 이들은 대부분 임직원 규모 10만 이상의 탑티어급 글로벌 IT 기업으로, 연매출은 대부분 10조원이 넘는다.
글로벌 IT 분야를 이끌고 있는 업체들인 만큼 이들의 고객사 규모도 만만치 않다. 마이크로소프트, IBM을 비롯해 Informatica, AWS, Cloudera 등 전 세계 IT 분야를 대표하는 글로벌 IT 분야의 리딩 기업들이 포함되었고, 이에 미디움 관계자는 “현재 참여기업들과 논의중인 테스트랩의 향후 비즈니스 연계효과를 기대하고 있다”고 전했다.
