(런던 2018년 2월 28일 PRNewswire=연합뉴스) 영국의 고등교육 평가기관에서 발표하는 QS 전공별 세계 대학순위에는 총 48학과 순위 정보가 포함되었으며 2017년 순위는 총 3천만 명이 조회하였다. QS가 발표한 최신 전공별 대학 순위(QS World University Rankings by Subject[https://www.topuniversities.com/subject-rankings/2018 ])에서 서울대는 상위 10순위 중 1개 학과, 상위 20순위에는 9가지 학과 전공이 순위에 들었다.
서울대의 스포츠 관련 학과가 가장 높은 순위인 10위, 화학공학과 16위, 기계 공학 18위, 전자공학이 19위를 차지하였다.

국내 대학순위 결과
- 전체 전공별 순위 중 상위 20위 순위에 국내 대학은 15회 포함되었다. 그중 카이스트는 6개 전공에 포함되었다.
- 상위 20권 순위 중 7개의 국대 대학이 랭크된 순위는 주로 엔지니어링 관련 학과였으며 그 외는 재료 공학이 주를 이루었다. (카이스트 13위, 서울대 19위)
- 서울대는 각각 현대언어학, 사회 정책 및 행정 전공에서도 18위를 차지하였다.
- 고려대의 경우 작년 순위에서는 상위 50위 순위에 총 65회 포함되었으나 올해는 56회 포함되는 데 그쳤다.
- 전체 전공별 순위 중 국내 대학으로는 서울대가 41개 전공, 연세대가 34개 전공, 고려대가 33개, 성균관대 29개, 한양대가 28개 순위에 포함되었다.
- 총 33개의 국내 대학이 최소 하나의 전공별 순위에는 각각 포함되었으며 총 340회 순위에 포함되었다. 전체 순위 중에서 국내 대학 학과는 총 115회 순위가 하락하였으며, 31회 학과별 순위가 향상되었다. 이를 통해 국내 대학의 순위가 전반적으로 하락한 것을 알 수 있다.

The research project enumerates the world's leading institutions for the study of 48 different subjects and five subject groups. The portfolio - the most extensive of its kind - is designed to provide a crucial comparative guide to university performance for students both aspiring and current, parents, career & study advisors, and academia.

This year, Harvard University retains its global pre-eminence. It ranks number-one for fourteen different subjects, outranking Massachusetts Institute of Technology (12 number-one ranks) and the University of Oxford (four number-one ranks).
Key Findings:
- The United States' higher education system records more drops than rises;
- The United Kingdom's universities remain resilient in the face of Brexit, taking 10 number-one ranks - two more than last year;
- The University of Cambridge takes more top-ten ranks than any other institution (37);
- In continental Europe, The Netherlands is the only country to take two top places while Switzerland and Italy take one apiece;
- French universities continue to flounder, with more regressions than progressions;
- National University of Singapore is Asia's standout institution, taking 11 top-10 places;
- China's rate of improvement has slowed, as has Russia's;
- India's performance deteriorates slightly;
- Brazil loses nearly a quarter of its top-100 places, underlining the system's struggles;
- QS have added two new tables to the portfolio this year: Library & Information Management and Classics & Ancient History.
