(SYDNEY, Dec. 5, 2019 PRNewswire=연합뉴스) Five Australian enterprises signed up for the next edition of the China International Import Expo during a roadshow by the CIIE Bureau in Sydney, Australia on Dec 2.
The Australian business community has said that it is looking forward to next year's China International Import Expo (CIIE) following the conclusion of the second edition of the trade fair in Shanghai last month.
During the roadshow, exhibitors who participated in this year's CIIE also said that the event presents Australian businesses with a great opportunity to expand their footprint in the Chinese market.
Among those attending the roadshow was Sun Chenghai, the deputy director general of the CIIE Bureau, who pointed out that China and Australia have enjoyed a close relationship over the years.
Around 150 Australian exhibitors signed up for the second import expo, up 30 percent compared with the inaugural edition, while the exhibition area had also increased by 40 percent year-on-year, said Sun.
Kylie Bell, executive director of the New South Wales Department of Industry, said that half of the Australian exhibitors at the second CIIE were from New South Wales, and that the expo provides an ideal platform to further China-Australia economic cooperation.
She also pledged to support the third import expo by bringing more Australian businesses.
The CIIE has become an important window to showcase the close economic and trade relations between China and Australia, according to Chinese Consul-General in Sydney Gu Xiaojie.
Gu welcomed Australian enterprises to participate in the CIIE and contribute to the strengthening of bilateral ties between China and Australia.
Held from Nov 5 to 10, the second CIIE drew over 3,800 enterprises from 181 countries, regions and international organizations, with intended deals for one-year purchases of goods and services topping $71.13 billion, a sharp rise compared to last year.
